![]() | Pure praise that's unpolluted by the noise of musical instruments!
| We believe that the inclusion of such is a sinful departure from the Spirit-ordained worship of the New Testament church. The scriptures do not command or authorize their use. We have no example of the first-century church (which was under divinely-inspired apostolic leadership) ever using them. Instruments were not introduced into Christian worship until around 660 AD, centuries after the church was established and long after it had drifted into apostasy. By including them in worship, man superimposes his will onto God's. Since the Bible is our sole source of authority for doctrine and practice in the Lord's church, we seek to please God with the fruit of our lips and the melody of our hearts (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16)...and nothing more! (See our FAQs link on the About Us page for a more detailed discussion of this topic.) |
![]() | Weekly observance of the Lord's Supper!
| We believe that, just as the first-century church did under apostolic guidance, believers today are to eat of the Savior's body and drink of His blood for spiritual nourishment on the first day of each week. Passages like Matthew 26:26-29, I Corinthians 10:14-17, 11:23-30, and John 6:53-58 underscore the importance of this sacred feast in the lives of God's people, and Acts 20:7 clearly indicates when the early disciples partook of it. We eat the communion meal every first day of the week in accordance with Biblical example. (Again, see our FAQs page.) |
![]() | Bible-based preaching in all its power and purity!
| Our preacher is not an inspirational speaker or a pusher of the "prosperity gospel." Although many people today seek these things to satisfy their "itching ears," we believe that the man of God's solemn charge is to "reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." (II Timothy 4:2) The sermons and lessons you hear when you visit will certainly inspire and encourage you, but they will also challenge you to repent of sin, examine your life, and live to the glory of God by walking daily in obedience to His will. When you are with us, you will hear the whole counsel of God declared, not just the parts that everyone wants to hear. |
![]() | The joyful giving of the people of God!
| You will witness members of the church giving their offerings out of thankful and gracious hearts. We each give in accordance with our individual prosperity, and not out of compulsion (I Corinthians 16:2). As our visitor, you will not be asked or expected to give; it is completely up to you whether or not you leave an offering. The work of the local church is supported by the members of the local church (II Corinthians 9:6-15). |
![]() | God-centered exaltation, not man-centered entertainment!
| We believe that worship is about honoring God and glorifying Him rather than exciting and indulging ourselves. While we certainly believe that true worship will inevitably edify and encourage the participants, that is secondary to the satisfaction of the Lord. Therefore, you will not find the entertainment culture that is so prevalent in much of the religious world at our congregation. |
